Just wanted to post a little about one of my closest Mexican friends, Aide Damian. Last Wednesday, she flew to Pennsylvania, to spend the summer in ministry at the church camp I worked at for eight years, Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. It's so weird to call home and hear Aidee answer the phone....we've switched places! I am so excited for how God is going to use her this summer as a counselor at Slippery Rock and that He has blessed her with the opportunity to go and serve in this way.
Aide is studying to be an English teacher, so this was the perfect way for her to go and practice English by serving God in a ministry this summer. Please pray as she will be a head counselor! I know she is really nervous. Tomorrow begins staff training through the end of this week, and then they start right into the full four weeks of camp, beginning with Jr. Week (4-6th graders).
Pray for:
-Clear communication with her campers and the ability to share the gospel and her testimony
-God to provide solid friendships and lasting bonds that will make this summer an experience Aidee will look back on all her life
-Comfort away from home and away from Mexico! (Grove City (8,500 people) is a lot smaller and quieter than Mexico City's 33 million, and Aide commented that she is nearly going crazy because there's "no noise" and "it only takes 20 minutes to go to Wal-Mart and come home" and the closest mexican food is "Taco Bell which doesn't compare")
-Her family who misses her and is away from her all summer, especially her mom
-The ministry of SRBC and the leadership of Pastor Dave this summer, the new staff and the returning staff
-For an amazing summer and many kids/teens lives to be changed eternally!
Thanks for praying for Aidee! I know she will appreciate it. (That's pronounced Ay-ee-day)
